Crown Supply makes fire alarm training panel available to fire departments

A longtime leader in the design and programming of fire alarm systems, Crown Supply has fabricated a Fire Alarm System Training Panel for use, at no cost, by fire departments in Rhode Island and Massachusetts. The portable unit, which simulates an entire system, was built for training personnel on all facets of fire alarm operation.

“The panel shows how systems are programmed and how a master box is tripped and reset, among other important features,” says Crown Supply’s Bill Donahue.

Richard Vespia, Rhode Island’s Assistant Deputy State Fire Marshall, says fire departments should take advantage of this offer. “I do fire alarm training with the Providence Fire Department,” says Vespia. “And we felt we needed something more hands-on for our training.” He approached Bill Donahue and his staff at Crown Supply with the idea of the training panel. “Crown Supply has come up with an invaluable tool. I can’t recommend it enough,” says Vespia.

Bill Donahue says his reason for creating the fire alarm training panel was simple. “Fire alarm systems are constantly evolving and becoming more sophisticated all the time,” he says. “With this contribution, we hope to make sure the men and women who are out there on the front lines protecting our lives have the most up-to-date knowledge possible in order to do their job properly and safely.”

The Cumberland Fire Department was the first to use the training panel in Rhode Island, while the Wayland Fire Department was the first in Massachusetts.
